Final Coding club session for 2020

Presentation of certificates and prizes

The last session finished off with a buzz!

Primary school students who attending were feeling happy to receive their certificate and prizes.

Teachers came to support this kaupapa and acknowledge all our students, who said they were looking forward to coming back next year.

Throughout 2021 we will incorporate other ideas around what the students would like to do, including coding completions and exploring robotics.

First Virtual coding class at Papakura High School

Kia ora Koutou, We have been continuing to run the Papakura High Code Club virtually. Unfortunately I was unable to send out all the invitations to all the students who have been attending. We are treading on new ground and the positives for the lock-down create opportunity! We had some students attend this week and with the support of Code Club staff Siobhan O'connor we came up with a plan: The first thing we did was assign all code club members to Grok Learning a 'Space Invaders' game. If you attend the club next week I will be able to sign you up! Also we thought about creating a blog dedicated to the club and here it is! We are hoping to source merchandise from Code Club and present to members who complete the projects we set, together with a Code Club certificate. Some of these prizes are T-shirts and key-rings from the official Code Club Aotearoa - watch this space. Looking forward to seeing you next week. Satchet Singh

20th June Code Club - Minecraft

Minecraft for Education Next we have VR VOOM Virtual reality workshop 7th July after school.  This week students hosted a server for Minecraft. The goal was to find a new country and learn how to survive by creating tools, finding food and being innovative. As one students said, by blood sweat and tears! Here is some of the feedback of students who told me why they come to the club, what do they enjoyed and what the benefits are for them. I joined coding club because I was always into games and other digital stuff. I enjoy coding club because I can learn to code at my own pace and/or have fun playing minecraft  with my friends. The benefits I get from coding club is spending more time with my friends, learning to code at my own pace, and getting to know new people. Why? I joined the coding club to make new friends that like coding and playing Minecraft with new people. What do you enjoy? Well, in coding, I enjoy playing Minecraft and coding and not being socially awkward. Benefits? T
